This beautiful estate in Nebraska City was home to J. Sterling Morton, founder of Arbor Day and former US Secretary of Agriculture under President Cleveland. From its beginning in 1855 as a four-room frame house, the magnificent mansion grew to 52 rooms through several years of remodeling. Many of the families original pieces and authentic furnishings grace the rooms. This neocolonial mansion is located within a 72-acre arboretum with a lilac walk featuring over 200 varieties. A tree trail, Italian terraced garden and carriage house are also located on the grounds.
